Working Principle of Plastic Pelletizing Machine

The plastic pelletizing machine (also named plastic granulator) relies on screw extrusion and thermal plasticization to convert cleaned waste plastic scraps into uniform recycled pellets. Its whole working process can be divided into 5 continuous steps.

1. Feeding & Conveying

Dry plastic flakes or film scraps processed by film washing line and squeezing dryer are fed into the machine barrel. For fluffy soft PP/PE film, anti-winding forced feeding structure is equipped to avoid material bridging and screw wrapping, ensuring stable and uninterrupted material delivery.

2. Heating & Plasticization Melting

The barrel is equipped with segmented electric heating rings. As the internal screw rotates continuously, it pushes raw materials forward. Combined with external heating and internal friction heat generated by screw shearing, solid plastic gradually softens and melts into homogeneous plastic melt. Twin screw pelletizing machines have stronger mixing and devolatilization performance to remove moisture, ink volatiles and light impurities.

3. Melt Filtration & Impurity Removal

The molten plastic passes through multi-layer stainless steel filter screens. Sand, metal fragments, uncrushed hard impurities and residual glue are intercepted by the screen, effectively preventing black spots and foreign matter in finished pellets. The filter screen can be quickly replaced to maintain stable production.

4. Die Head Extrusion & Cutting

The pure plastic melt is extruded through the die head holes. Customers can match two cutting solutions as needed: water-ring pelletizer for sticky soft plastic, or strand pulling cutting machine for rigid plastic scraps. High-speed rotating cutter cuts continuous plastic strands into small uniform pellets instantly.

5. Cooling, Dewatering & Screening

Cut hot pellets are rapidly cooled by circulating water to prevent adhesion. Then centrifugal dewatering equipment removes surface moisture, and vibrating sieve screens out unqualified oversized or tiny particles. The final dry clean recycled pellets can be directly reused for injection, film blowing and non-woven production.
This whole physical regeneration process realizes circular utilization of waste plastic, reducing resource waste and plastic pollution.
